Surveys – answer it or not

I received an email that required me to complete an survey. It says:

“We are contacting you because you are the corresponding author on a paper …. The survey is being conducted by a scientific, technical and medical publisher who will be revealed at the end of the survey ….”

I am always happy to contribute on surveys as I know it’s not easy for a researcher to collect data. However, this email seems not well designed through reading its introduction. My experience tells it is just from a non-high-profile publisher and I doubt how trustful its survey results would be and what’s its purpose. Though they want to collect information from researchers, they forget that researchers themselves are good survey designers. Without letting people know who you are and what your aim is for the study, people won’t help your survey.
